This is your best alternative to Internet services. Here is why. You do not need to change your Internet dialup provider. That means you can keep your email address. There's more. Switching to cable may seem to be a faster alternative, but after you have been on for awhile, you will notice slow downloads. Cable companies offer this service by making a local network in your neighborhood and everybody with cable service shares this network. Once 2 or more start to download at the same time, you may actually see the download slower than dialup service. We have had the Hughes Satelite system for well over a year now and we can attest that it is really the best alternative.
 

Although ISDN and DSL may be a possible alternative, monthly charges based on usage may change your mind fast. Your ISP also has to be capable too. If you think Bell Atlantic has good Internet service, we can refer you to some of our customers who would disagree. 
Hughes has several plans to fit your needs. You can get a low cost usage plan and switch to just landbased usage until you download and then go to the satellite.
